How Email Notifications Work
When do customers receive a back-in-stock email?
Emails are sent automatically when all of these conditions are met:
- A customer has signed up to be notified for a product or variant.
- You restock that product in Shopify (the inventory quantity goes above zero).
- The restocked quantity meets your minimum threshold (you can set this in Email settings, default is 1).
- You have email credits available on your plan.
You do not need to send anything manually. Storebeep handles it all in the background.
How quickly are emails sent after I restock?
Emails start going out within seconds of Storebeep detecting the inventory change. They are sent at a steady pace to ensure reliable delivery, so if you have a large number of subscribers for a product, it may take a few minutes for all emails to go out.
What does the email look like?
The email includes:
- Your store logo (if you have uploaded one)
- The product name and variant name (if applicable)
- A product image
- A direct link to the product page so customers can buy it right away
- Your store name
- An unsubscribe link for customers who no longer want notifications
The exact design depends on which email template you have selected. You can preview and change templates from the Email page.
What if a product goes out of stock again after notifications were sent?
Great question. Storebeep handles this automatically:
- When a product goes out of stock again, subscribers who already received their notification are re-enrolled and set back to Active status.
- They do not need to sign up again. When the product is restocked the next time, they will receive another email.
This cycle continues until the customer either purchases the product, unsubscribes, or the subscription expires.
Can I control how many emails a subscriber gets?
Yes. In the Email page under Email Configuration, you can set the Max notifications per subscriber (between 1 and 5). This controls how many back-in-stock emails a subscriber receives before they stop getting notifications for that product.
The default is 1, meaning each subscriber gets one email per restock event.
What is the minimum quantity setting?
This setting lets you control how much stock needs to be available before notifications go out. For example, if you set it to 5, Storebeep will only send notifications when a product has at least 5 units in stock.
This is useful if you want to make sure you have enough inventory to handle the rush of customers coming back to buy.
You can find this under Email > Email Configuration > Notification Preferences.
